Because of the thickness of the fabric is creates a bigger bulge and it is so warn and cozy for those chilly Winter nights. Saxx Ultra Trunk

In our store, this is one of those brands that are often asked for by name. Most of the time, they have heard about it from a friend or a relative, having heard good things about it, they want to give it a try. Those that have bought them tend to be pretty loyal to the brand and keep coming back for more.

We do like this brand, and this underwear. For one, it is a local company (we love supporting local businesses) that also happens to make a great product. They got their big push as an underwear brand by being on reality TV show to help fund their production.

Anyway, the 'Ultra' part of this product is the fabric. As a viscose blend made from bamboo, the fabric is breathable, lightweight -- effectively keeping you feeling wrapped in softness and feeling dry. Guys that buy this product will wear them for athletics or an active lifestyle. The Trunk has a shorter leg than their original Boxer Brief -- the Trunk seems to be more popular with our customers, and we like them too.

Saxx makes their underwear in a cotton/lycra, a modal/cotton, microfibre, and even wool! The Ultra generally is the most popular fabric.

So other than that, what is the appeal? Saxx's underwear line all feature a unique design technology which is pretty well unique in our store. As pictured, their underwear has two web panels on each side of the pouch which effectively separate your package from your legs. Even those with skin sensitivities to seams and stitching seem to have no problems with these web panels. You really notice the difference as you move around, or go from a standing position to sitting in a chair. It helps corral your equipment to face forward quite nicely. We've had construction workers, dancers, athletes, office workers alike come in and buy them because of it's design. One thing to note is that the sizing is very North American standard, so if you like your underwear a little more snug, err on the smaller size -- you shouldn't go wrong.

In this shipment we also received some of Andrew Christian's popular Skinny hoodies and cardigans in grey and charcoal, perfect for layering in the winter months or as cover-ups at the gym. These light-weight fitted hoodies not only have a great stylish look but are also designed to hug your body and make your chest look big and your waist look thin. Arms have a tighter fit but offer great stretch so your arms look muscular but the hoody is not constricting.

We also received a couple of new styles of Andrew Christian's amazing underwear: The new Nanofit Competition Brief is a low profile brief that features contrasting leg trim to help make your legs look more muscular and the back of this brief features stitching detail that creates the look of a fuller more rounded backside. Made from ultra soft micro modal fabric so it is super comfortable to wear and the metallic silver elastic waistband is sleek and super soft. The pouch is anatomically correct so it feels like you're not wearing any underwear at all and has extra room in front, just where you need it. When you pull them on your package falls naturally into the super soft snuggle pocket.

We've been stocking Gregg Homme products for many years, and we're simply impressed with their offerings season by season. Just when you don't think their products could be any better, they outdo themselves. We've told you about the newest styles coming from Gregg recently. The materials, cut, variety of styles and innovation are their strengths, equalled by few. The Boy Toy Bikini Brief is no exception.

The Boy Toy fabric (a polyamide/lycra) is breathable, feather-light and ultra thin. But it is also a strong fabric, with lots of stretch. This combination of features means it fits like a second skin, contouring to every detail, but doesn't feel tight or constricting. The fabric has a matte relective sheen to it when worn, which may not appeal to some. The pictures are representative of how the fabric looks in normal lighting.

The Boy Toy bikini brief has the classic Gregg bikini styling with a low rise profile, going thin at the hips, and a fuller back. The front pouch is generous with slight lift due to the centre seam. The stretchiness of the fabric means ample room for most.

So why is this product a Staff Pick? Well, it's the combination of the features above, executed so well, makes it a superior product. It's one of those products that at first glance might seem to be a novelty underwear item, but it really is an everyday underwear product, but also very much something you could wear on a night on the town. As mentioned in last week's Staff Pick, we like to point out wayfinders that help our customers make choices about what's good for them. Andrew Christian's Coolflex Precision Boxer is one such example.

The Precision Boxer has the signature hallmarks of Andrew Christian design -- from their comfortable waistband to their super comfortable Coolflex Modal fabric, as well as their Show-It technology. This Show-It horseshoe shaped inner 'comfy cup' is lined by soft elastic that gently aids in the lifting and support.

The Andrew Christian Coolflex Precision Boxer also has great sporty styling with the contrast panels at the back, and stripes along the sides and around the leg openings. In our store here at Topdrawers, inevitably we get asked, 'What do you recommend?' It's an interesting question for sure, because we know how hard it can be to make a choice given the number of products we stock. Sometimes customers have a pretty good idea of what they want but want to hear what we think. Others are genuinely intimidated by the choices available to them and need guidance.

And this is where the Staff Picks come in. We regularly point our our staff picks in the store and thought it would be great to share these online. What merits a Staff Pick? Well it's usually one of three things (and usually a combination of): a) we love it; b) our customers love it; or c) there's something really good about the product we want to showcase. It's as simple as that.

Mundo Unico 'Cedimento' Short Boxer

Stylish. Colourful. Fashionable. Yes, it's all this made by Mundo Unico. It's one of those products in our store that customers generally gravitate to -- they want to take a closer look. Often a folly of fashion is functionality, but not so with this brand. All of their underwear is supremely functional. They are comfortable and ergonomic with alot of attention to detail, suitable for an active lifestyle and are very durable.

Part of Unico's Jewel collection, the Cedimento features richly colourful patterns with a contrasting waistband. Others in this collection include the Vegetal, the Organico, the Cristales, etc.

We also like the cut of these underwear. The pouch is ergonomic, with plenty of room up front and seaming to give superior support. The back seaming really does a good job of preventing bunching and riding up the legs. What more could you ask for?

ABOUT THE CAMPAIGN
During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in Canada and around the world. With their “Mo’s”, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men's health, specifically prostate cancer.

On Movember 1st, guys register at Movember.com with a clean-shaven face. For the rest of the month, these selfless and generous men, known as Mo Bros, groom, trim and wax their way into the annals of fine moustachery. Supported by the women in their lives, Mo Sistas, Movember Mo Bros raise funds by seeking out sponsorship for their Mo-growing efforts.

Mo Bros effectively become walking, talking billboards for the 30 days of November. Through their actions and words, they raise awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health.

At the end of the month, Mo Bros and Mo Sistas celebrate their gallantry and valor by either throwing their own Movember party or attending one of the infamous Gala Partés held around the world by Movember, for Movember.

The funds raised in Canada support the number one male cancer, prostate cancer.

The funds raised are directed to programs run directly by Movember and our men’s health partner, Prostate Cancer Canada. Together, the two channels work together to ensure that Movember funds are supporting a broad range of innovative, world-class programs in line with our strategic goals in the areas of awareness and education, survivorship and research.

Movember - a global movement

Since its humble beginnings in Melbourne Australia, Movember has grown to become a truly global movement inspiring more than 1.1 Million Mo Bros and Mo Sistas to participate, with formal campaigns in Australia, New Zealand, the US, Canada, the UK, Finland, the Netherlands, Spain, South Africa and Ireland. In addition, Movember is aware of Mo Bros and Mo Sistas supporting the campaign and men’s health cause across the globe, from Russia to Dubai, Hong Kong to Antarctica, Rio de Janeiro to Mumbai, and everywhere in between.

No matter the country or city, Movember will continue to work to change established habits and attitudes men have about their health, to educate men about the health risks they face, getting them to act on that knowledge thereby increasing the chances of early detection, diagnosis and effective treatment.

In 2010, nearly 119,000 Canadian Mo Bros and Mo Sistas got on board, raising $22.3 million CAD.
